Blue Butterfly
Rule
ArtsThe butterfly found in the Plaza El Segundo logo is a tribute to the real life El Segundo Blue Butterfly which is one of 25 insects on the U.S. Endangered Species List. The tiny butterfly, with a wing span of less than one inch, is making a gradual recovery and resides now in three areas outside of El Segundo.

ArtsPlaza El Segundo’s signature blue butterfly is also replicated on the tiled floor of the pop jet fountain which is located in The Collection district. This interactive water feature erupts with mischievous water spouts that shoot up and then disappear. A colorful seat wall decorated with children’s hand-painted tiles is also located in this area.Arts

One of Plaza El Segundo’s landmark features is its artwork, a permanent collection of large-scale metal sculptures located throughout the center. Designed by world-renowned father and son sculptors Phillip and Chad Glashoff, these whimsical icons are provocative and amusing sign posts that subtly direct shopper activities. Which of these loveable characters is your favorite? The Wish Caster, the Bird Woman, the Chef? Or, maybe the Business Fox?
